Pick of the Week –  Falcons @ Vikings(+4.5)

Joshua Dobs came through for us and the Vikings.  After pointing out in the NFL 2023 – Trade Deadline Grades – Winners & Losers what a good trade it was for the Vikings, and what a bad trade it was for the Cardinals, Dobbs used his 15 minutes of prep time to go out and beat the Falcons by air and land.  How in the world the Cardinals thought giving Clayton Tune one token start was a better plan than keeping Dobbs is almost unfathomable.  And now, just as predicted in the Trade Grades, Minnesota is going to get a nice Compensory pick for Dobbs IF they don’t decide to keep him around as bridge starter or solid #2.

Punk of the Week – Bills @ Bengals

The Algorithm puked out a Bills -6 line against a Vegas spread of Bengals -2.5.  This is a classic case of the stats for a full year being trumped by the recent form of a teams.  Over the course of 2023, the Bengals are finally about average after the horrific start.  But in the last 3 – 4 weeks, they are much close to a top 5 team.  A perfect example of an alogorithm being predictably tripped up, while a handicapper would see and understand the issue.
