Dallas @ New York Giants

Dallas

The Cowboys have won 6 straight games against the Giants with each win by at least 7 points.

The Cowboys have generated the 2nd-fewest rushing yards over expected (-82 RYOE) and the 3rd-fewest yards after contact per carry (2.4) in the NFL this season.

CeeDee Lamb has averaged two full yards less per route from the slot this season (0.7) compared to 2023 (2.7).

Lamb has aligned in the slot at nearly the same rate in 2024 (48%) compared to 2023 (49%) but has caught just 45.5% of his slot targets this season (70.7% in 2023).

Lamb has generated the most yards after the catch over expected in the NFL this season (+71 YACOE).

Lamb has averaged 9.1 yards after the catch per reception in 2024, the most in his career and the 4th-most by any wide receiver in the NFL (min. 10 receptions).

New York

Daniel Jones has thrown fewer than 21 completions in 5 of his last 6 games against the Cowboys.

Daniel Jones has recorded the 5th-most designed QB rushes this season (9), resulting in the 4th-most such yards (40).

The Cowboys have allowed a league-high 83 yards to designed QB rushes this season (+28 RYOE, also most in NFL)

Malik Nabers has been sent in motion on a team-high 31 snaps this season, including 17 in motion at the snap.

Nabers has been targeted on 12 of 20 routes when used in pre-snap motion (60.0%) and converted that into 9 receptions for 134 receiving yards (20 more than any other player).

Nabers has caught 8 of 11 targets on hitch routes for a league-high 77 yards.

Most of Nabers’ production has been on in-breaking routes, hauling in 11 of 14 targets for 155 yards (4th-most in the NFL).

 

New Orleans @ Atlanta

New Orleans

Carl Granderson and Chase Young have generated 18 pressures each through three weeks, tied for the 3rd-most pressures league wide.

Granderson, who played 90% of his snaps on the right edge last season, has switched to the left edge (with Young at right edge), and has so far posted a career-best 17.8% pressure rate. They are one of only two edge-rushing duos in the league to have generated more than 15 pressures each through the first three weeks of the season.

Klint Kubiak has implemented the Shanahan offensive blueprint with the Saints this year, using play action on the highest rate of dropbacks (40%) and targeting in-breaking routes at the second-highest rate (39%) through three weeks.

In the first two weeks, the Saints generated the 3rd-most EPA (7) and the 4th-most passing yards (193) on play-action passes. However, in Week 3 against the Eagles, they managed just 5 yards on play-action plays.

Derek Carr completed just 14 of 25 attempts for 142 yards and 1 touchdown in Week 3 against the Eagles, after throwing for 443 yards and 5 touchdowns over the first two weeks.

Carr was pressured on 11 of 27 dropbacks (40.7%), good for his highest pressure rate faced in a game this season. Carr was pressured on just 23.8% of dropbacks in Weeks 1-2, the 5th-lowest rate in the NFL. Carr and the Saints struggled with play action in Week 3, as he completed just 2 of 6 such attempts for 5 yards. In Weeks 1-2, Carr completed 12 of 17 play-action passes for 193 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Atlanta

The Falcons pass rush struggles have continued this season after finishing with the 8th-lowest pressure rate in 2023.

Through three weeks, the Falcons have pressured opposing quarterbacks on just 20% of dropbacks, the second-lowest pressure rate by a defense through the first three weeks of a season since 2018. Matchup: The Saints offensive line has allowed a 31.4% pressure rate (14th in NFL) and has surrendered just 3 sacks, tied for the second-fewest entering Monday night.

Bijan Robinson has rushed for 196 yards through three games, where 155 of his yards have come from runs outside the tackles.

Since the start of last season, Robinson has accumulated 950 yards on outside tackle runs, second only to Christian McCaffrey, who has 1,018 yards over this period. Matchup: The Saints have allowed just 142 yards on runs outside the tackles, the 9th-fewest in the league entering Monday night.

Dee Alford was targeted 10 times as the nearest defender in coverage, allowing 10 receptions for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns, the most targets without forcing an incompletion this season.

Alford did not force a single tight window, allowing 5.1 yards of separation per target. Rashee Rice finished with 5 receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown on 5 targets against Alford on the night.

 

Los Angeles Rams @ Chicago

LA Rams

The Rams’ top two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft rank first and second among rookies in pressures through the first three weeks of the season.

Braden Fiske (12) and Jared Verse (11) also lead all Rams pass rushers in pressures so far this season.

The Rams have used pre-snap motion on 79% of their offensive snaps this season, the 5th-highest rate in the NFL.

On plays with pre-snap motion, the Rams have recorded a 53.5% passing success rate, 2nd-highest in the NFL. The Rams also have the 3rd-largest difference (+2.8) in yards per play with motion (5.7) compared to plays without motion (2.9). 

The Bears defense has allowed a league-low 33.3% passing success rate on plays with pre-snap motion this season.  The Bears are one of five defenses to have not allowed a passing touchdown on a play with pre-snap motion (3 INT).

Four different players have logged at least 20 pass blocking snaps at the left tackle position for the Rams this season.

Among them is Alaric Jackson, who allowed 8 pressures and a sack across 29 pass blocking snaps in Week 3 against the 49ers. Jackson’s 27.6% pressure rate allowed is the highest among all players to log at least 25 pass blocking snaps at left tackle this season.

Chicago

The Bears defense has played zone coverage on 78% of opposing dropbacks this season, the 9th-highest rate in the NFL.

Only the Cowboys (30.3%) and Seahawks (31.8%) have allowed a lower passing success rate when playing zone coverage than the Bears this season (33.3%).

In Weeks 1-2, Caleb Williams totaled 2 interceptions and did not complete any of his 10 deep pass attempts.

In Week 3 against the Colts, Williams completed 3 of 9 deep passes for 118 yards and an interception. 

The Rams defense has surrendered league-highs in completions (8), yards (271), and touchdowns (5) on deep pass attempts through three weeks this season.

Williams was efficient on quick passes, completing 19 of 22 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown, however, Williams struggled on in-rhythm dropbacks (2.5 to 4 seconds), completing just 11 of 23 passes for 178 yards with a touchdown and 2 interceptions.

Williams has completed just 43.1% of his passes in rhythm this season, the lowest of any qualified quarterback entering Sunday afternoon.

 

Minnesota @ Green Bay

Minnesota

Sam Darnold has averaged 12.8 yards per attempt when using play action this season, the most among qualified QBs this season.

On play action, Darnold has completed 15 of 22 attempts for 281 yards, including a league-high 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. On standard drobacks, Darnold has averaged just 6.7 yards per attempt, completing 38 of 56 attempts for 376 yards, including 5 touchdowns and 1 interception.

All four of Darnold’s touchdowns came on short passes (between 0 and 10 air yards), against four-or-fewer rushers, and against man coverage – three came against the Texans in cover 0.

Darnold was also effective when he held the ball in the pocket, completing 10 of 19 passes for 132 yards and 3 TD on dropbacks over 2.5 seconds. Darnold now has 6 touchdown passes on the season on dropbacks over 2.5 seconds, most in the NFL (entering Sunday afternoon).

Justin Jefferson has totaled the 2nd-most receiving yards (159) and tied for the most touchdowns (3) against man coverage this season.

Jefferson has been shadowed in only one game so far this season, when Giants cornerback Deonte Banks lined up against Jefferson on 17 of his 25 routes (68%), with Jefferson catching 2 of his 3 targets for 47 yards and a touchdown when Banks was the nearest defender. 

Jaire Alexander shadowed A.J. Brown against the Eagles in Week 1, allowing 4 receptions on 8 targets for 108 yards and a touchdown, in addition to 1 interception. 

Since Week 1, Alexander has allowed 7 receptions on 11 targets for 83 yards, including 1 interception. Alexander has lined up as the left cornerback on 76% of his snaps in Weeks 2-3, after shadowing Brown in Week 1.

Green Bay

Packers ball carriers have generated +127 rushing yards over expected on designed runs this season, the most in the NFL.

Packers ball carriers have been productive fighting for yards this season, averaging 3.9 yards after contact per carry on designed rushes (5th), with Josh Jacobs totaling 230 rushing yards after contact (2nd-most in the NFL).

Malik Willis has been blitzed on 40% of his dropbacks this season, which would rank as the 2nd-highest rate faced by a qualified quarterback this season.

When blitzed, Willis has completed 8 of 13 attempts (61.5%) for 94 yards and a touchdown, facing a 38.9% pressure rate and just 1 sack. The Vikings continue to be a blitz-heavy defense under Brian Flores, blitzing opposing passers on 39.3% of dropbacks this season (3rd-highest).

Rashaan Gary, Preston Smith, and Devonte Wyatt all generated a team-high 4 pressures, while nine other Packers also recorded at least one pressure in the Packers win over the Titans.

In total, 12 Packers defenders recorded at least one pressure, tied for the second-most in a single game by a Packers defense since 2018. Green Bay sacked Will Levis 8 times, tied for the most by any team in a game this season. 

Titans left guard Peter Skoronski allowed 7 pressures and 2.5 sacks on 44 pass blocks (15.9% pressure rate). Skoronski has allowed a 15.4% pressure rate this season, the highest among left tackles entering Sunday afternoon (min. 50 pass blocks).

 

Pittsburgh @ Indianapolis

Pittsburgh

The Steelers did not use pony personnel on any snaps in Weeks 1-2 but used such personnel on 17 snaps in Week 3.
Over the last two seasons, Arthur Smith is responsible for the top 6 games of pony personnel usage.
The Steelers have held opponents to 10 points or less in all three games this season and have not had a game where both teams combined for more than 30 points.
The Steelers have generated the 3rd-highest pressure rate when not blitzing in the league (39.7%).
The Steelers have only blitzed on 15.2% of opposing dropbacks, the 3rd-lowest rate in the NFL. The Colts offense has produced the league’s lowest completion percentage (54.7%) and lowest CPOE (-8.2%) on plays where they are not blitzed.
Justin Fields has thrown 53.3% of his passes outside the numbers through three weeks, the highest rate among qualified quarterbacks.
Fields also leads in completion percentage over expected on such throws (+11.7%), a significant improvement from his career mark of –3.2% CPOE on outside-the-numbers passes prior to the 2024 season.
Justin Fields has recorded a +6.6% completion percentage over expected (CPOE) this season, 3rd-highest in the NFL.
Last season Fields recorded a +0.4% CPOE, ranking 16th in the NFL and his first career season with a positive CPOE.
Najee Harris has totaled 55 carries for 209 yards and -22 rushing yards over expected this season, resulting in a 32.7% success rate which ranks 32nd among 41 running backs with at least 20 carries.
Matchup: Although the Colts defense has surrendered the 2nd-most rushing yards this season (537), they rank top 8 in the NFL in terms of success rate allowed (37.2%) and EPA per carry allowed (-0.15).

Indianapolis

Jonathan Taylor has generated positive rushing yards over expected (RYOE) on 54.0% of his carries this season, 2nd-highest in the NFL among 41 running backs with at least 20 carries (Chuba Hubbard, 56.8%).

The Steelers defense has allowed opposing rushers to generate positive RYOE on just 24.1% of carries, the 3rd-lowest rate in the NFL. The Steelers have allowed a league-low -67 rushing yards over expected.

Richardson has completed a league-low 62.5% of his passes on attempts with a 50%+ completion probability this season.

Richardson has totaled 3 interceptions on such attempts, tied for the most in the NFL with four other quarterbacks.Anthony Richardson averaged his quickest average time to throw against the Bears in Week 3 (2.62 seconds).

Richardson completed 6 of his 9 quick pass attempts for 51 yards, while struggling on longer developing dropbacks (over 2.5 seconds), completing just 4 of his 11 such attempts for 116 yards and 2 interceptions. The Bears defense played zone coverage on all but two dropbacks (91.3% zone coverage).

Laiatu Latu generated 7 pressures and 1 sack on 28 pass rushes against the Bears in Week 3 (25.0%).

Latu’s 7 pressures are the most by any rookie in a single game this season. 5 of Latu’s pressures came on 19 1-on-1 matchups against Bears LT Braxton Jones (26.3%).

 

Denver @ New York Jets

Denver

Zach Allen has emerged as the Broncos leading pass rusher over the last 2 weeks, with 8 pressures in Week 2 and 7 pressures in Week 3.

Allen generated multiple pressures across 4 of 5 of the Buccaneers’ offensive linemen. Tristan Wirfs was the only lineman to not allow a single pressure from Allen.

Patrick Surtain will likely line up against Garrett Wilson, as Surtain has lined up against top receivers (60%+ routes) in every game this season, including DK Metcalf, George Pickens and Mike Evans.

Surtain was targeted once in Week 3, allowing Mike Evans’ single reception for 8 yards. Surtain will face Garrett Wilson, who caught 4 of 8 targets for 25 yards and a touchdown against Christian Gonzalez in Week 3.

Surtain shadowed Mike Evans on 24 of his 34 routes (70.6%), allowing just 1 reception for 8 yards on a single target as the nearest defender in coverage.

Surtain has allowed 6 receptions for 63 yards as a nearest defender in coverage this season, forcing a tight window on 3 of those 8 targets (37.5%).

New York Jets

Breece Hall has scored a TD in each of his last 6 games dating back to last season.

Aaron Rodgers got out of his comfort zone in Week 3, passing outside the tackle box at his highest rate (18.9%) and his most scramble yards per dropback (8.0) since 2022.

Rodgers completed 6 of 7 pass attempts for 84 yards and a touchdown from outside the tackle box (+22.9% CPOE).

The Jets have generated the 2nd-highest pressure rate in the league this season (45.6%).

When blitzing, the Jets’ pressure rate jumps to 60.7%, the highest such rate in the NFL. 

The Broncos offensive line allowed a 23.1% pressure rate to the Buccaneers in Week 3, their lowest this season after allowing an average 36.4% pressure rate in Week 1-2.

 

Philadelphia @ Tampa Bay

Philadelphia

DeVonta Smith had played on every one of the Eagles 52 offensive snaps prior to exiting the game due to injury early in the fourth quarter of Week 3.

In Weeks 1-2, Smith was the only offensive skill position player (WR, RB, TE) who played 100% of his team’s offensive snaps. Smith has traveled 3,937 total yards this season, 2nd-most of any offensive player behind Amon-Ra St. Brown (4,148 yards).

Jalen Hurts has thrown at least one interception in each of his last 7 regular season games dating back to 2023.

Hurts threw 2 interceptions against the Buccaneers in Week 3 of last season.

Jalen Hurts has thrown short of the sticks on 35.3% of his total attempts this season, his lowest rate since entering the league in 2020.

Hurts has completed a league-high 87.9% of such passes this season, but just 28 of his 58 attempts have generated positive EPA, resulting in the 14th-highest success rate in the NFL (48.3%). 

The Buccaneers defense ranks bottom 10 in terms of completion percentage allowed (86.6%) and success rate allowed (53.7%) on such passes this season.

Tampa Bay

Zyon McCollum has totaled more passes defensed (6) than completions allowed (4) when targeted as the nearest defender in coverage this season (13 targets, 49 yards, INT).

McCollum has allowed -16.0 target EPA this season, 2nd-fewest in the NFL behind Lions safety Kerby Joseph (-17.7).

Chris Godwin has totaled league-highs in both receptions (14) and yards (197) across 17 targets when aligned in the slot this season.

The Eagles defense has allowed 11.3 yards per attempt to opposing passers targeting the slot this season, 2nd-most in the NFL behind the 49ers (13.1).

 

Cincinnati @ Carolina

Cincinnati

Through three weeks, Trey Hendrickson (13 pressures) has accounted for 35.1% of the Bengals total pressures, the highest pressure share in the league.

No other Bengals defender has more than 4 pressures. Hendrickson’s 3 sacks also account for half of the Bengals total sacks, tied for the 2nd-highest sack share in the league. 

Hendrickson has lined up as the right edge rusher on 95% of his defensive snaps this season. Left tackle Ikem Ekwonu has allowed 11 pressures through three weeks, the most among the Panthers offensive linemen.

In Week 3 against the Commanders, Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase connected on two deep touchdowns, their 14th deep touchdown since Chase entered the league in 2021.

The duo has now tied Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill for the most deep touchdowns over that span. Chase had not recorded a deep touchdown since Week 13, 2023 against the Jaguars.

Chase and Burrow connected twice on deep touchdowns against the Commanders, the duo’s 14th deep touchdown since Chase entered the NFL in 2021, tying Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill for most in that span.

Chase finished his night with 6 catches for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns on 7 total targets. Burrow was efficient on downfield passes in the loss, completing 8 of 10 passes that traveled more than 10 air yards for 169 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Carolina

In his start last week against the Raiders, Andy Dalton was efficient in the quick passing game, completing 20 of 27 on passes under 2.5 seconds for 211 yards and 1 touchdown.

His 211 yards on such passes is the most by a quarterback in a game this season. Overall, Dalton completed 26 of 37 passes for 319 yards and 3 touchdowns, finishing with the most passing yards in a game by a Panthers QB since Week 3, 2023 (Dalton: 361 yards).

Chuba Hubbard recorded 13 carries between the tackles (62% of his attempts), rushing for 74 of his 114 yards in Week 3.

The Bengals have contacted rushers behind the line of scrimmage on inside runs at the 4th-highest rate in the NFL (50.0%) but have allowed the 2nd-most yards after contact on such runs (175) this season.

Hubbard finished with 21 carries for 114 yards against the Raiders, +33 rushing yards over expected, Hubbard’s second-most RYOE in a game in his career.

Hubbard was at his best rushing out of 11 personnel, rushing for 66 yards on 11 carries which included 9 successful runs. After forcing just 5 missed tackles through Week 2, Hubbard forced 8 missed tackles in Week 3.

Jadeveon Clowney finished with a team-high 8 pressures and a sack, including 4 pressures in under 2.5 seconds in the Panthers first win of the season.

Clowney generated 7 of his 8 pressures against rookie right tackle DJ Glaze, who made his first career NFL start. The Panthers defense generated more pressures against the Raiders in Week 3 (18) than they did in Weeks 1 and 2 combined (13).

 

Jacksonville @ Houston

Jacksonville

The Jaguars have averaged the second-deepest route depth in the league through three weeks of the season (10.3).

The team added WRs Brian Thomas Jr. and Gabe Davis in the offseason in a concerted effort to stretch out their passing game after finishing with the 5th-lowest average route depth in the NFL last season.

Trevor Lawrence has generated a -11.1% completion percentage above expected on non-play action this season, the 2nd-lowest in the NFL. Lawrence has averaged just 5.1 yards per attempt on non-play action this season, the 5th-fewest.

The Texans pass defense has allowed just 5.1 yards per attempt on non-play action this season, the 2nd-fewest in the NFL.

Offenses have struggled to push the ball downfield when not using play action against the Texans, as the Texans have allowed a 31.3% completion rate over 10 air yards on non-play action (5th-lowest).

Houston

The Texans have generated a 46.2% team pressure rate this season, the highest rate in the NFL.

Through three weeks, edge rushers Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson rank first and second in pressures with 20 and 19, respectively.

Nico Collins has totaled 95 receiving yards when lined up against press coverage this season, the 3rd-most in the NFL.

The Jaguars have aligned their outside corners in press coverage on 36% of snaps, the 5th-highest rate in the league.

After blitzing C.J. Stroud on over half of his dropbacks in the first half (54.4%), the Vikings dialed back the aggression and sent 5+ pass rushers on just 27.3% of Stroud’s dropbacks in the second half.

Stroud struggled against the blitz, completing 9 of 15 for 103 yards, a touchdown and interception (-15.6% CPOE).

The Texans ground game struggled to create space as the Vikings contacted ball carriers behind the line of scrimmage on 8 of the Texans’ 11 designed runs (73%).

The Vikings have been aggressive against the run this season, creating contact behind the line of scrimmage on over 50% of designed runs in all three games this season.

 

Washington @ Arizona

Washington

Jayden Daniels completed all 19 of his passes under 20 air yards (172 yards, TD) in Week 3 against the Bengals.

Daniels is the first player to complete all passes under 20 air yards in a game since Lamar Jackson in Week 10, 2019, also against the Bengals (min. 10 such attempts).

Through his first three career games in the NFL, Daniels has averaged the 2nd-quickest time to throw among qualified passers this season (2.43 seconds).

Daniels has attempted a quick pass (under 2.5 seconds) at the highest rate in the league in 2024 (59%). Daniels has completed 38 of his 45 quick passes (85.1%) for 292 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Cardinals have allowed the 2nd-most yards per attempt (8.2) and tied for the 4th-most touchdowns (3) against quick passes this season.

Daniels’ 27-yard touchdown pass to Terry McLaurin had a completion probability of 10.3%, the most improbable touchdown of the season, and the most improbable completion by the Commanders in the NGS era (since 2016).

The pass traveled 47.3 yards in the air, while McLaurin had 0.7 yards of separation from Dax Hill when the pass arrived.

Arizona

Marvin Harrison Jr. ranks 3rd in targets (20), tied for 4th in receptions (9), and 4th in receiving yards (194) on targets past the sticks this season.

Kyler Murray has thrown past the sticks at the 6th-highest rate in 2024 (43%).

Cardinals left guard Evan Brown has allowed just 4 pressures (1 sack) on 102 pass rushes this season (3.9% pressure rate), the 6th-lowest among left guards this season (min. 40 pass blocks).

Brown is projected to matchup against Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen, who has aligned as the right interior defensive lineman on 88% of snaps this season. Allen has generated 7 pressures on 74 pass rushes this season (9.5%). Allen recorded 195 pressures from 2020 to 2023, the 4th-most among all defensive tackles.

Cardinals right tackle Jackson Barton allowed just 2 pressures on 27 pass blocks (7.4% pressure rate) in his first career NFL start.

Both of Barton’s pressures allowed came across 13 1-on-1 matchups against Aidan Hutchinson. Hutchinson generated a team-high 4 pressures (and 1 sack) on 36 pass rushes (11.1% pressure rate). His 6.5 sacks this season are the most in the NFL entering Sunday night.

 

New England @ San Francisco

New England

Jacoby Brissett has struggled to find rhythm behind a Patriots offense that has allowed a 44.8% pressure rate, the 2nd-highest in the NFL this season, including the 4th-quickest time to pressure (2.43 seconds).

Dealing with a collapsing pocket, Brissett has completed just 19 of 42 (45.2%) of attempts over 2.5 seconds time to throw for 193 yards, the third-fewest yards per attempt (4.6) on such passes this season.

The Patriots ground game has struggled this season, allowing ball carriers to be contacted behind the scrimmage on a league-high 58% of designed rushes this season.

Despite totaling just 23 rushing yards across 6 carries in Week 3, Rhamondre Stevenson has fought to gain positive yardage with 226 rushing yards after contact on designed runs this season, the 3rd-most in the NFL. 

The 49ers defense has been effective in bottling up opposing offenses this season, tying for the fewest missed tackles (14) and allowing the fewest yards from missed tackles (62) this season.

San Francisco

The 49ers offensive weapons have struggled to generate separation this season, with receivers averaging the fewest yards of separation (2.9) of a 49ers offense in the NGS era, and the 2nd-fewest in the NFL this season.

As a result, Purdy has targeted open receivers on just 32.4% of his targets this season, a career-low. Normally dominant in yards after the catch, the 49ers have averaged just 3.0 yards after the catch this season, over a yard fewer than the next closest team.

Jordan Mason has totaled the most rushing yards after contact (241) and forced missed tackles (29) in the NFL through Week 3.

As an offense, the 49ers have gained positive rushing yards over expected on 39.2% of designed rushes this season, the 4th-highest rate in the NFL.

The Patriots defense has seen opposing ball carriers reach 15 miles per hour or higher on just 12% of carries this season, the 2nd-lowest rate in the NFL. 

Jordan Mason will look to utilize his speed against the Giants, having reached 15 miles per hour on 15 carries already this season (22.4% of carries), the 2nd-most among running backs.

Only 16.7% of the 49ers passing yards came after the catch in Week 3, the lowest percentage of team passing yards coming after the catch the 49ers have recorded in game during the Shanahan era (since 2017), and the only game under 20%.

Three of the four lowest games in terms of percentage of passing yards coming after the catch by the 49ers during the Shanahan era have come this season (out of 118 games). 

The 49ers have averaged just 3.0 yards after the catch per reception this season, over a full yard fewer than the next closest team (Browns, 4.1). 

The 49ers have led the NFL in yards after the catch per reception in each of the past six seasons (since 2018). Brock Purdy has thrown into a tight window on 23% of his total attempts this season, the 2nd-highest rate in the NFL.

 

Cleveland @ Las Vegas

Amari Cooper has accumulated 272 air yards on incomplete passes this season, the most in the NFL.

Cooper has hauled in just 1 of his league-leading 7 deep targets (T-1st, Rome Odunze) for 24 yards and a touchdown and has run the 3rd-most deep routes in the league (23).

Deshaun Watson has been blitzed on 34.8% of his dropbacks through the first three weeks of the season, the 7th-highest rate in the NFL.

Watson has struggled against 5+ pass rushers in 2024, completing just 15 of 34 such passes (44.1%) for 124 yards and a touchdown. His 44.1% completion rate against the blitz is the 3rd-lowest in the NFL. 

The Raiders have blitzed opposing passers at the 4th-highest rate in the league this season (37.7%) and have allowed the 3rd-most completions (25) and 5th-most yards (266) when blitzing.

Myles Garrett has aligned as the right edge rusher on 65.9% of snaps this season (29.3% left edge) and is projected to matchup against Raiders left tackle Kolton Miller.

Garrett has tied for the 6th-most pressures (16) in the NFL this season, while Miller has allowed the 7th-most pressures among left tackles (9.4% pressure rate). 

In Week 4 of his first season in the NFL (2018), Miller allowed 9 pressures across 35 1-on-1 matchups (25.7%) against Garrett — his 9 pressures allowed are his most to any pass rusher in a game in his career. In two meetings since then (Week 8, 2020 and Week 15, 2021), Miller allowed just 2 pressures on 21 1-on-1 matchups (9.5%) against Garrett.

Las Vegas

The Raiders offense has generated -0.56 EPA per carry, a 23.6% rushing success rate, and 0.5 yards before contact this season, all the lowest by any team in the Next Gen Stats era (since 2016).

Zamir White’s -0.61 EPA per carry in 2024 is the fewest by any running back over that span (min. 30 carries).

 

Kansas City @ Los Angeles Chargers

Kansas City

Rashee Rice has emerged as the Chiefs top receiving threat this season, totaling a league-leading 200 yards after the catch through three games.

Rice has been effective in the underneath passing game, catching a league-high 22 targets for 167 yards (3rd) and a touchdown on targets under 10 air yards. Rice has also forced 9 missed tackles on the season, most among all wide receivers. 

Rashee Rice gained 75 of his 110 yards after the catch across 12 receptions on 14 targets against the Falcons.

No player has gained more yards after the catch than Rice this season (200). Rice also forced 5 missed tackles on the night, giving him 9 on the season, most among all wide receivers league wide. None of his 14 targets were tight windows (10 of 14 had more than 3 yards of separation).

Despite allowing 58 completions on underneath pass attempts this season (tied for 3rd-most), the Chargers pass defense has been stingy against shorter throws, forcing a tight window on 20% of underneath targets (1st) and allowing just 4.9 yards per attempt on such targets (tied for 3rd-fewest). 

The Chargers defense has also been successful in limiting yards after the catch on underneath pass attempts, allowing an average of 4.6 yards after catch on such receptions (5th).

Mahomes has been pressured on just 19.4% of his dropbacks this season, the lowest pressure rate he has faced in his career.

Opposing defenses have been hesitant to bring the pressure against Mahomes, blitzing him on just 20% of dropbacks (6th-lowest), after Mahomes was the least blitzed quarterback in 2023 (20%). When not pressured, Mahomes has relied on the short game, averaging a career-low 4.1 air yards per attempt.

Patrick Mahomes recorded most of his production on passes under 10 air yards completing 22 of 28 for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns.

On passes over 10 air yards, Mahomes was just 4 of 8 for 74 yards and an interception. Mahomes targeted receivers in the seams at his highest rate in a game since Week 13, 2021 (67%), accumulating 173 of 230 yards between the numbers and hashmarks.

LA Chargers

The Chargers have improved their run game this season, averaging a league-best 2.3 yards before contact per carry on designed runs.

In 2023, the Chargers ranked dead last with just 0.5 yards before contact per carry on designed runs. J.K. Dobbins has driven the Chargers success on the ground, tied for the most rushing yards over expected (+107) and most rushing yards before contact (146) among running backs this season.

Chargers offensive tackles Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater both left Week 3 with injuries, after allowing 2 and 3 pressures and 1 sack each.

After Slater exited the game, Trey Pipkins allowed 5 pressures on just 8 pass blocking snaps from the left tackle position (62.5%), including a sack where Justin Herbert was injured. Pipkins had allowed 0 pressures from 16 pass blocking snaps when playing right guard before Slater’s injury. 

The Chiefs defense has generated just a 28.2% pressure rate this season, which ranks 27th in the NFL. If Pipkins starts at left tackle in Week 4, he will most likely match up against Chiefs edge rusher Michael Danna, who has played 73% of his snaps this season from the right edge, including a team-high 34 snaps in Week 3. 

Against the three offensive tackles Danna has faced in at least 10 matchups a game this season, he has yet to generate multiple pressures. Danna generated just 1 pressure on 15 pass rushes against Jake Matthews last week (6.7%).

 

Buffalo @ Baltimore

Buffalo

The last three matchups between the Bills and Ravens have had less than 42 points combined by both teams.

Josh Allen has completed 23 of 26 passes when targeting the slot for 241 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, resulting in a league-high +1.02 EPA per pass (next closest: Jayden Daniels, +0.61).

Allen has averaged a league-low 3.8 air yards per attempt on such passes, 1.5 yards fewer than the next closest player (Patrick Mahomes, 5.3), but has completed a league-high 88.5% of his passes. 

Khalil Shakir has caught every one of his 11 slot targets from Allen for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns this season. Bills receivers have combined for a league-leading 176 yards after the catch on such targets. 

In Week 3 against the Cowboys, the Ravens allowed Dak Prescott to complete 9 of 15 passes targeted to the slot for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Ravens have allowed a 61.8% success rate when defending such attempts this season, the 5th-highest rate in the NFL.

Allen has been pressured on just 23.8% of his dropbacks this season, the 4th-lowest rate in the NFL. When pressured, Allen has completed 8 of 13 passes for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns and has scrambled 5 times for 29 yards

Allen has also been sacked just twice on 20 pressured dropbacks (10.0%), good for the 2nd-lowest sack rate under pressure in the NFL. 

Lamar Jackson has been sacked on just 3 of 28 pressured dropbacks this season (10.7%), ranking 3rd behind Allen in terms of lowest sack rate under pressure. Both the Bills defense (30.8%) and Ravens defense (28.9%) have generated pressure at a below-average rate this season, ranking 18th and 22nd, respectively.

Baltimore

Derrick Henry has forced 21 missed tackles this season (2nd-most) en route to generating the 4th-most rushing yards over expected in the league (+65).

Henry has averaged 4.0 yards after contact per carry through three games, up from 3.3 in 2023 and the most in his career since 2020. Henry totaled 5 rushes for 10 or more yards in Week 3 against the Cowboys (20%), his most in a game since Week 8, 2022.

Lamar Jackson has totaled 133 yards and a touchdown across 18 designed runs this season, averaging 7.4 yards per carry, tied for the most of any player in the NFL with at least 15 designed runs.

Jackson has generated positive EPA on 13 of his 18 designed runs, resulting in a league-high 72.2% success rate. Through just three games this season, Jackson has already twice eclipsed his 2023 single-game high of 38 yards on designed runs (Week 1 vs KC: 47 yards; Week 3 vs DAL: 83 yards). 

Jackson has already ripped off 5 such runs which gained 10+ yards after totaling 11 such runs all last season.

The Bills have generated 8 sacks on non-blitzes in 2024, tied for the 7th-most in the league.

The Bills have used zone coverage on 81.2% of dropbacks (5th-highest) and have utilized a 4-man rush at the highest rate (85.1%) in the NFL this season.

 

Tennessee @ Miami

Tennessee

The Titans offensive line has allowed their QB to be pressured on 47.0% of dropbacks, the highest rate in the league.

RT Nicholas Petit-Frere leads the NFL in pressures allowed (19), while LG Peter Skoronski leads all interior offensive linemen in pressures allowed (18).

The Titans rushing attack has been very boom or bust, averaging the 4th-fewest yards before contact per carry in the league (0.4), while also breaking designed runs for 10+ yards at the 7th-highest rate (14.5%).

The Dolphins run defense has allowed 0.6 yards before contact per carry (7th-fewest), however they have also allowed 16.2% of opponents’ designed runs to go for 10 or more yards (6th-highest). 

This disparity may be due to the Dolphins only converting on 50.3% of their first tackle opportunities, the 3rd-lowest rate in the league.

Miami

The Dolphins have won just 2 of their last 10 games without Tua Tagovailoa as the starter (including playoffs).

With Skylar Thompson and Tim Boyle at quarterback in Week 3, the Miami Dolphins utilized motion at the 3rd-lowest rate of the Mike McDaniel era (75%).

Both quarterbacks targeted vertical routes on over 30% of their attempts, a mark that Tua Tagovailoa has not reached in any season of his career.

Through 3 games, Dolphins RB De’Von Achane has forced 18 missed tackles, the 4th-most in the NFL.

Additionally, his 30% missed tackle forced rate is tied for 10th-highest among all players with at least 20 touches. 

The Titans defense has missed 27 tackles through 3 games, with a missed tackle rate of 14.2%. 

Those 27 missed tackles have translated to an additional 208 yards gained by opposing offenses, the 4th-most yards allowed by missed tackles in the league.

 

Seattle @ Detroit

The Seahawks have won each of their last 6 matchups against the Lions; their last loss came in 2012.

Over the last two matchups between Geno Smith and Jared Goff, both teams combined for at least 68 points in each game.

Geno Smith has utilized play action on a league-low 12% of dropbacks this season. Smith has been sacked once and completed 10 of 12 passes for 83 yards across 13 such dropbacks.

Last season, Smith averaged 10.2 yards per play action pass attempt, 5th-most in the NFL.

Smith has completed 73.5% of his passes against man coverage this season, making him one of two quarterbacks to have completed at least 70% of such passes (C.J. Stroud, 80.0%).

Detroit

Amon-Ra St. Brown has league-high 18 targets when aligned in the slot this season, totaling 11 receptions for 106 yards.

The Seahawks defense has allowed a league-low 4.3 yards per attempt to opposing passers targeting the slot this season (NFL average: 7.4).

The Lions have added 95.1% win probability across their 101 team rush attempts this season, most in the NFL.

The Lions offense has recorded a 52.5% rushing success rate this season, the 3rd-highest rate of any offense this season.

Lions rushers recorded 35 carries for 160 yards and a touchdown from under center in their Week 3 win over the Cardinals.

The offense’s 160 rushing yards from under center formation are the second-most by any unit in a game this season. David Montgomery (22 carries, 98 yards, TD) and Jahmyr Gibbs (12 carries, 54 yards) both rushed for over 50 yards from under center on the day. 

Since the start of last season, the Lions have six such games with two rushers gaining over 50 yards on under center runs; the rest of the NFL has combined for just one such game.
